About the Play (written and read by Carlyn Flint)

Net of Worth was a 2022 Finalist in the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition and explores the question: can anyone ever truly escape the tyranny of money?  The play follows Sam, a young man from humble beginnings, as he struggles to prove to his girlfriend (and her mother) that he can “provide” in the high cost economy of New York City.  In a series of catastrophic misunderstandings, Sam hits rock bottom and must rely on the wisdom and generosity of an eclectic trio living under a bridge.  But when a missing chunk of change surfaces, generosity is challenged by self-preservation.
